PCOS Challenge review by Monika Woolsey

A must-listen if you have an eating disorder with your PCOS
Hello everyone,I missed the live version of this interview but stayed up until midnight listening to it. I was going to just catch the first few minutes but Ellen and Sasha did such a wonderful job of talking about body image, eating disorders, and PCOS, I was hooked! It's such a great, thorough, and compassionate look at a part of PCOS that is not easy to discuss. A lot of physicians who treat PCOS are more skilled at managing your lab values than your emotions...and it can be frustrating to feel that such an important part of your disorder is not being acknowledged.I do not intend to criticize physicians with my comment. They are often under pressure to see their patients in a tightly scheduled day, and if they're good at managing your insulin level, they need to be respected for what they're best at.One of the things PCOS Challenge AND inCYST are trying to do, is provide support that sometimes simply is not available in a medical office visit. A major goal at inCYST, as well, is to network with physicians and help them understand the importance of recognizing this very important aspect of PCOS, and knowing where to refer their patients if they can't or don't want to be the caregiver offering emotional support. If you've been feeling like that support is what you need, then a good start might be to listen to this broadcast. I guarantee, at the very least, you will learn that you're not alone. www.pcoschallenge.comThanks, Sasha and Ellen, for taking the time to talk so compassionately about such a challenging topic!

Spring is in the air!

Spring is in the air and life is good! I am sorry I have not posted in quite a while. I have been super busy getting life back to normal now that my husband and I are both vaccinated and our kids are resuming school in person as well as other activities. It almost feels like we went from point A to point Z in only a few weeks! I am not sure if any of you follow me on my socials, but I did a great 2 week "Try New" challenge and it was a lot of fun. You can look at my "highlights" tab labeled "challenge" to see what it was all about. I really enjoyed trying new foods, new behaviors and new recipes! And so did my followers/clients! If you did not get the chance to try this during the challenge, you can absolutely do this at any time. For 2 weeks, challenge yourself to try either a new food, new behavior or a new recipe. See if it helps you in any way. Perhaps a new behavior will help you get to your goals quicker. New foods will help you not feel bored with y

Happy New year!

Well, it has been quite afew years since I have been on this blog. And with the rebuilding of my website, I was able to be re-introduced to my long forgotten blog account! It will be nice to get back to it. Although I have been posting quite a bit on my social media accounts (you can follow me on Facebook and Instagram now @nutritionbyellen. Ah.. 2020, what a year this has been. I think we are all ready for you to be long gone and forgotten. But with the shutdown , hopefully we have all been productive and thinking about our future goals and aspirations for when we get out of this mess! I know I am. I am grateful for my health, my family, friends and clients/colleagues. If we have learned anything from this pandemic, it is resiliance and community. We can all get through this, together. I look forward to 2021 with open arms and hope for the future. I see great things happening. And for @Nutritionbyellen, I see alot of growth and expansion of my practice. My practice is now virtual.
